At Trusted Key, we know you care about your personal information, so we have prepared this privacy policy (our “Privacy Policy”) to explain how we collect, use and share it. Trusted Key provides user identity verification and secure multi-factor authentication services on behalf of our customers. During the initial enrollment process of our mobile application, we may receive from our users government-issued identity documents for verification of their identity.

Trusted Key may also collect anonymous information about people who visit the company’s main website,, for marketing and advertisement purposes.

This privacy policy describes the nature of how the data we collect is stored and secured while at Trusted Key.


When you use Trusted Key you provide us with two types of information: (i) information you submit via the Service and (ii) information regarding your use of the Service collected by us as you interact with the Service.

In the course of providing identify proofing services on behalf of our customers, Trusted Key receives personal data captured from the user’s identity proofing documents. This data may include, but not be limited to, items such as the user’s name, street address, email address, date of birth, driver’s license or passport numbers etc. This data is used to establish the identity of the user. These identifiers are turned into cryptographic tokens which are stored in the Trusted Key app on the user’s device. The user then may choose to share these tokens (containing their PII) with other apps or services. After issuing the tokens, Trusted Key discards from its internal databases all PII other than the user’s email address(es).

Trusted Key uses a third-party identity proofing service to verify the validity of the government issued identity documents provided by the user. Trusted Key has implemented reasonable contractual protections limiting the use of that personally-identifiable information to the provision of services to Trusted Key.

When users visit the main website,, Trusted Key collects anonymized site navigation information that helps Trusted Key analyze user’s site browsing behavior and optimize the content on the web site accordingly.

We do not share your personal information with third-parties unless it is necessary to offer the Service or required by law (see below for specifics).


We may use your contact information to send you notifications regarding new services offered by Trusted Key that we think you may find valuable. Trusted Key may also send you service-related announcements from time to time through the general operation of the Service. Generally, you may opt out of such emails.

Profile information is used by Trusted Key to be presented back to and edited by you when you access the Service.

Trusted Key may use or share aggregate or anonymous data collected through the Service, including Activity Data, for purposes such as understanding or improving the service.


Trusted Key shares your personally-identifiable information only when it is reasonably necessary to offer the Service, legally required, or permitted by you. For example:

We may use a 3rd-party email sending service provider to send email to you. In connection with such operations, our email service provider may have access to your email address. When we utilize service providers for processing any personally-identifiable information, we implement reasonable contractual protections limiting the use of that personally-identifiable information to the provision of services to Trusted Key.

We may be required to disclose personally-identifiable information in response to lawful requests, such as subpoenas or court orders, or in compliance with applicable laws. Additionally, we may share account or other personally-identifiable information when we believe it is necessary to comply with law, to protect our interests or property, to prevent fraud or other illegal activity perpetrated through the Service or using the Trusted Key name, or to prevent imminent harm. This may include sharing personally-identifiable information with other companies, lawyers, agents or government agencies.

If the ownership of all or substantially all of the Trusted Key business, or individual business units or assets owned by Trusted Key that are related to the Service, were to change, your personally-identifiable information may be transferred to the new owner. In any such transfer of information, your personally-identifiable information would remain subject to this section.


Trusted Key takes reasonable steps to protect the Personal Information it stores and has put in place appropriate physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure it from loss, misuse, unauthorized access or disclosure, alteration or destruction. We cannot guarantee the security of Personal Information on or transmitted via the Internet.


Trusted Key uses a self-assessment approach to assure compliance with this privacy policy and periodically verifies that the policy is accurate, comprehensive for the information intended to be covered, prominently displayed, completely implemented and accessible. We encourage interested persons to raise any concerns using the contact information provided and we will investigate and attempt to resolve any complaints and disputes regarding use and disclosure of Personal Information.


You have at all times the right to delete your account with Trusted Key by following the instructions available through the Service. After your account is deleted we will retain aggregate or anonymous data collected through the Service, including Activity Data, which may be used by Trusted Key and shared with third parties in any manner.


California Civil Code Section 1798.83 entitles residents of the State of California to request from a business, with whom that resident has an established business relationship, certain information regarding the types of personal information the business shares with third parties for direct marketing purposes by such third party and the identities of the third parties with whom the business has shared such information during the immediately preceding calendar year.
